Leaving a lasting legacy for future generations

The Buxton Festival Foundation was established as a separate charitable trust in 2002 to contribute to the long-term stability and development of the Festival. The purpose of the Foundation is to grow an endowment fund able to provide a secure financial basis as the Festival continues to develop the range and quality of its opera productions, outreach projects and young artists’ programme. To date, a great deal of the funds going into the endowment have been from legacies, but beginning in the 40th Anniversary Festival in 2019, all proceeds from the opening concert of our programme will go to the Foundation.

In 2018 through a grant the Foundation supported the very successful and much enjoyed production of Donizetti’s The Daughter of the Regiment by Opera della Luna as well as La Serenissima’s production of Brescianello’s Tisbe.

The Foundation has a Development Fund and is able to make grants to the Festival to facilitate improving the range diversity and quality of the programme. In 2019 the Foundation is delighted to support the outreach project The Orphans of Koombu, an innovative mini-opera designed to put young voices at the front of the performance, bringing together schools in Derbyshire with performances at the Buxton Opera House.

If you would like to help to ensure that the Festival you have loved in your lifetime can be enjoyed by future generations, please support the Buxton Festival Foundation.

Remembering a charity in your Will is straightforward and leaving a gift to the Festival no matter how small, will really make a difference. Legacies can be made by way of a gift of cash, shares or property, and charitable gifts are free from Inheritance Tax and may also reduce other taxes. If you want to leave a legacy, simply tell your solicitor the amount you wish to give to the “Buxton Festival Foundation, registered charity number 1096269”.Download the Legacy brochure
