Buxton International Festival is delighted to announce the opera season for our 2026 Festival, taking place from Thursday 9 July to Sunday 26 July 2026.
Commenting, Michael Williams, BIF’s CEO said,
“Next year’s opera season offers something for everyone. We’re thrilled to continue the festival’s journey with Verdi, presenting a new production of La traviata in collaboration with Norwich Theatre. We welcome back The English Concert to present Handel’s majestic Amadigi di Gaula, and Scottish Opera makes its debut with their production of Lehár’s The Merry Widow. Mozart enthusiasts will enjoy a rare treat with our staged concert version of La clemenza di Tito. Discover the beauty of Francesca Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero, a rarely performed baroque gem presented by Vache Baroque, and be enchanted by Pauline Viardot’s charming The Last Sorcerer. Welcome to BIF 2026 – our most ambitious season to date!”

Group bookings: 10% discount on ticket prices for groups of 10+
We welcome groups of all types to Buxton International Festival and provide a group booking service for parties of 10+ along with 10% discount on ticket prices.
A group discount is available for any groups of 10+ to any events across our programme of opera, music, jazz and books. We can work with you to find you the best festival itinerary for your party.
