Young Artist Programme

Each year we recruit ten exceptional singers to join our Young Artist Programme, affectionately referred to as ‘YAPs’.

In partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Buxton International Festival audition the best talent each year based on the casting requirements of our opera season. The YAPs join our chorus and in return we support them in the early steps of their careers.

What YAPs get

We support ten young singers by providing one-to-one coaching sessions, informal career advice and professional work experience. All YAPs join the Buxton International Festival chorus for the mainstage operas, with rigorous rehearsal processes under the direction of world-class creative teams. They forge new industry connections and it’s a chance to perform alongside professional singers at the top of their game. The ten YAPs are given a bursary, plus travel and accommodation expenses in London.
