Named by The Economist as one of ‘Twenty Living Polymaths’, Sir Stephen Hough combines a distinguished career as a concert pianist with those of a composer and writer. The first classical performer to be given a MacArthur Fellowship, he was awarded a Knighthood for Services to Music in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, 2022.
His programme takes in Chaminade’s vividly characterful short pieces, Liszt’s heaven-storming Sonata, Robert Schumann’s fanciful portrait-gallery, and his own suite from the classic Disney film musical, Mary Poppins.
