Still only in his twenties pianist Deschanel Gordon is fast becoming a big name on the London jazz scene. Born in Hackney, he attended youth programmes such as the Hackney Creative Jazz Ensemble and the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy. Having graduated from Trinity Laban, he went on to win the BBC Young Jazz Musician competition in 2020. His sound is steeped in swing with influences ranging from gospel to reggae to neo-soul. He has worked with the likes of Nubya Garcia and Courtney Pine, as well as performing with his own trio.
