This year, the centenary of his death, Buxton Musical Society will perform Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, a sacred work composed in his early twenties but already showing some of the promise that was to come. They are also marking the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Swiss composer Frank Martin with a short orchestral piece. The Orchestra of Buxton Musical Society will be augmented with instrumentalists for the Festival Young Artists programme and soloists from the Buxton Festival company. The concert will be conducted by Sam Hayes.
