I am sure you are as sad as I am about the cancellation of the Buxton International Festival 2020 season. Many Friends who had already booked tickets have been turning their ticket purchases into donations and we are extremely grateful for their generosity.
Now we are asking everyone who was planning to come to this year’s Festival to send us a donation to the value or part value of the tickets they would have bought. This will mean that through your continued support we will be back in 2021.
BIF has no large reserves it can call on to cover the losses of the 2020 Festival income. You are the reason the Festival can take place. Ticket prices cover around 50% of our costs. The Arts Council and the Government are doing what they can but without your continued support it would be very difficult over the coming months to keep the team together and plan confidently towards July 2021.
We are devastated that we had to cancel BIF 2020 due to Covid-19 and we are working very hard to keep the Festival going. We need your support to help sustain this important cultural event which brings such joy to those who attend, and contributes to so many jobs and businesses in the local and wider economy.
