Harmonious Welcome: Bella Hardy begins her role as Kaleidoscope Choir Leader

Buxton International Festival is delighted to welcome Bella Hardy, who is stepping into the role of Kaleidoscope Choir Leader. This is an exciting development for the choir as Bella joins us to continue the fantastic work of Carol Bowns, who served as the Kaleidoscope Choir Leader for over a decade until her retirement in December 2023.

Kaleidoscope Community Choir is an integral part of Platform 3, an outreach initiative created in collaboration between BIF and Buxton Opera House in 2021. Platform 3 aims to provide an accessible platform for people of all ages within our local community to engage with the arts. Through the joy of singing, the friendly choir performs concerts at venues and events throughout the year across the High Peak including care and nursing homes, schools, Buxton Festival Fringe, BIF Friend events and more.

Bella Hardy, hailing from the Peak District village of Edale, is a highly acclaimed singer and songwriter. With a deep-rooted connection to traditional folk music and a talent for storytelling, Bella has captured the hearts of many. With her captivating voice and poignant lyrics, Bella has released several award winning albums and was named BBC Folk Singer of the Year in 2014.

She has a passion for group singing and harmonies, and leads numerous residentials and choirs, whilst continuing to enchant audiences with her soul-stirring performances.

If you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to try something new in 2024, the choir are always on the lookout for new members! Rehearsals are held every Tuesday at 1pm in the Pavilion Arts Centre. For more information, click here.
