Peter and the Wolf

It is with great regret that for the first time in forty years we must cancel the Buxton International Festival in July 2020. This is an enormous disappointment but the health and well-being of our audience, our volunteers, the BIF team and all the artists involved is of primary concern. By taking this difficult decision now we are safeguarding the Festival for the Future. Read our full statement here.

Please save the dates for next year’s Festival taking place 2 – 18 July 2021.

Royal Northern College of Music

Peter and the Wolf is the perfect introduction for young children to the symphony orchestra.

Prokoviev’s ‘symphonic fairy tale for children’ brings the orchestra to life, with all of the characters in Peter’s story represented by different instruments of the orchestra.

Specially selected young musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music will make up the orchestra, conducted by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Adrian Kelly. There will be a chance for children in the audience to take a closer look at the instruments and meet the musicians after the performance. Recommended for children from the ages of 4-11.
