It is with great regret that for the first time in forty years we must cancel the Buxton International Festival in July 2020. This is an enormous disappointment but the health and well-being of our audience, our volunteers, the BIF team and all the artists involved is of primary concern. By taking this difficult decision now we are safeguarding the Festival for the Future. Read our full statement here.
Please save the dates for next year’s Festival taking place 2 – 18 July 2021.
Wild Child and A Claxton Diary: Further Field Notes From A Small Planet
Two of our finest nature writers (and Guardian columnists) discuss their latest books and tackle the pressing issues of climate crisis, nature depletion and our disconnection from the natural world in busy urban lives. Patrick’s Wild Child particularly explores the relationship between children and nature and the joy to be found in the natural world. Buxton lad and festival favourite Mark Cocker celebrates the art of patience, to observe a butterfly, a bird, flower, bee and to take pleasure in all the inhabitants of ‘one’s parish’ no matter how seemingly insignificant.
