It is with great regret that for the first time in forty years we must cancel the Buxton International Festival in July 2020. This is an enormous disappointment but the health and well-being of our audience, our volunteers, the BIF team and all the artists involved is of primary concern. By taking this difficult decision now we are safeguarding the Festival for the Future. Read our full statement here.
Please save the dates for next year’s Festival taking place 2 – 18 July 2021.
As the Buxton Crescent Hotel will open its doors in 2020 after a multi-million pound renovation, we are delighted to offer a health-giving constitutional with a Georgian woman of enlightenment, Anna Seward. Anna was a regular visitor to the Crescent in the latter part of the 1700s and early 1800s and has many tales of Georgian life to tell as she gossips about the accommodation on offer and her fellow guests staying at the Crescent. This walk will take you past the Crescent and across the slopes to paint a picture of then and now.
