It is with great regret that for the first time in forty years we must cancel the Buxton International Festival in July 2020. This is an enormous disappointment but the health and well-being of our audience, our volunteers, the BIF team and all the artists involved is of primary concern. By taking this difficult decision now we are safeguarding the Festival for the Future. Read our full statement here.
Please save the dates for next year’s Festival taking place 2 – 18 July 2021.

Connaught Brass is a London-based quintet formed by students from The Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2016. Members have performed with the Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Cory Band, as well as recording with and supporting artists such as Bruno Mars, Jamie Cullum, Gregory Porter and Stormzy.
Their programme explores a wide range of styles and genres from 16th century composers Susato and Monteverdi to compositions by Ewald. These pieces form the core repertoire for the modern brass quintet, bridging the gap between Renaissance/Baroque and contemporary brass writing. The final piece was written in 1990 and Plog himself gave the group instruction on how to play it.
