The BIF Recital series offers an opportunity to take a journey through the musical traditions of some of our European neighbours. Members of the Buxton Chorus and the Young Artist Programme will present three lunchtime recitals exploring some jewels of the song and operatic repertoire. For the first recital we travel to Italy and to cities like Naples, Florence and Venice, and hear works by composers such as Monteverdi, Tosti and Puccini. In Austria we take in the spectacular scenery, and visit the cafés of Vienna, hearing works by Mozart, Schubert and Lehár. Finally, in France we will wander the cobbled streets of Paris and sample the sumptuous repertoire by composers such as Fauré, Debussy and Poulenc. Artistic Director Adrian Kelly will be your guide, introducing the singers and plotting a course through the heart of Europe.
Following the concerts, there will be an opportunity to meet the performers informally in the tea garden by St John’s Church.
