Why support?

By supporting BIF, you are helping this spectacular arts festival in the beautiful Peak District bring to life rare operas and present the best in music and books. As a charity, we work throughout the year exploring new ways of thinking about creativity and cultural participation, inspiring people to be curious and to embrace new experiences.

Nurture new talent

BIF gives young artists performance platforms as they develop and expand their repertoires, giving opportunities to work with internationally renowned artists. Our Young Artists Programme puts young singers centre stage.

Engage young people

Working with young people, professional singers and musicians, we inspire young people to be curious and embrace new experiences like this year’s The Orphans of Koombu combining opera and musical theatre.

Inspire new audiences

Our mission is to connect artists and audiences in ways that lift the spirit and to make opera more accessible. We do this by presenting an innovative programme of opera, music & books with different access points, encouraging people to get involved at multiple levels.

Our part in cultural regeneration

Our location is very important to the Festival and we are playing our part in the cultural regeneration of Buxton with unexpected opportunities for joy, celebration and exploration.

How can I support BIF?

You can support us through a donation, become part of a production syndicate, or support a programme close to your heart.

One of the easiest and most rewarding ways you can support us is by joining the Friends of BIF. Often described as the heart and soul of the Festival, becoming a Friend is about more than just donating your membership subscription.

You can leave a lasting legacy for future generations. Remembering a charity in your Will is straightforward and leaving something to the Festival, no matter how small, will really make a difference.

Are you a business? Support from our corporate partners is crucial to the Festival on and off the stage. We create unique experiences, opportunities for hospitality and a chance to talk directly to our audiences through partnerships and packages.

Grants from trusts and foundations play a vital role in enabling us to continue our work and to expand it into new areas from supporting new operas, professional development for young artists, to our work in outreach and the local community.
